Shooting The Moon With a Canon RC-6

If anyone has tried to photograph the Moon in the last couple of weeks you may have noticed that it is not as easy as some people appear to make it look as  several things can go wrong whilst attempting to photograph it. I personally have never attempted to photograph the Moon and I don't know why I haven't as I have the equipment and knowledge to obtain a decent Image.

Eos 1DMK 1V

I'm a Canon Eos DSLR user and have been since 1996  my go to camera is a 1D Mk 1V and a 7d MK1 as a spare . The 1D MK1V was the last of the APS-H cameras that Canon made and it's a belter, I swear by it and I will always use it even though there are other alternatives in the market. However on this occasion I decided to use both Cameras but on different nights. On the 8h of April I used the 1D MK 1V with a 1.4 extender and a 400MM F5.6L all mounted on a tripod with a gimbal head and on the 9th of April I used the 7DMK1 with just the 400mm F5.6L.

7D MK 1

One bit of kit that I've had in my bag for a while and never used is the Canon  Remote Control RC-6. It's a wireless transmitter that uses infra red to transmit a signal to a receiver that is built into a range of  Eos Cameras. It's really inexpensive and has many applications that allow you to fire the shutter remotely, sadly it is not compatible with the 1D MK 1V but it really works well with my Eos 7D MK 1.
