The Red Kite Feeding & Rehabilitation Centre

I recently visited the Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Centre which is owned and managed by the Powell family amazingly it is completely self funded. Gigrin became the red kite feeding centre in 1993 following a request from the RSPB. Red kites were roosting on Gigrin Farm in the winter at that time and were being fed as an when it was possible to do so.

The number of red kites visiting the farm has risen from around half a dozen in 1993, to over 600 in the Winter.

Feeding takes place at 2pm in the winter and 3pm in summer; the red kites don't know that we change the clocks twice a year.

Gigrin can offer 5 specialist photographic hides, These are available to Photographers and filmmakers at extra cost.
