IS SHREWSBURY SLOWLY SINKING

With all this rain we have been having, I took a little time out today to check out if Shrewsbury is slowly sinking. I took a  journey from the English to the Welsh Bridges with a small diversion via the Quarry Park and yes it was raining.

So this was the height of the water at approximately 1200Hrs today, I normally walk the dog along the Tow Path.

Also someone's house pumping out  water.

The NCP Car Park had long since been closed thankfully not too many cars were left. The flooding can be seen as far down as the bridge into the Railway Station.

Then on to the Quarry Park and yes it was slowly filling up.

Both the Shrewsbury School and the Pengwern  Rowing Club were starting to go under and the path back to the Penny Bridge was under Water.

Not a lot of places left to sit by the River and god knows when the next Bin collection will happen.

The Boathouse Pub is doing it's best to beat the Water but it is rising fast.

I then tried to get to the Welsh Bridge via the Park but I had to make a bit of a detour.

I finally got there and had a conversation with one of the Towns emergency planners, they reckon Saturday is going to be a bit of a worry thanks to all the rain that will wash off the Welsh Hills.
The depth at the moment is 14.5 looks to be in units of Feet but I am not sure it may be Metres.

If you look on the other side of the Welsh Bridge keep a look out for the trapped Boat.

It looks as if the Monument to Darwin may soon be under water.

Finally a look back from the Balcony of the Theatre Severn, quite a good place to view the rising tides.
